Vincent toolkits used a lot of 'Jenbro' spanners made by the
Jenks brothers.
It is unclear as to when Jenks Brothers Ltd. was formed, but they
had branches in Leeds and Newcastle Upon Tyne, in addition to head
office premises in Cleveland Road, Wolverhampton. They were engaged
in producing motor accessories, small tools and machines under their
trademark name 'Jenbro' (presumably a combination of 'Jenks' and
'Brothers'). Some time before 1937, the British Tool and Engineering
Co. Ltd (Britool) became a subsidiary company of Jenks Brothers,
with Jenks Brothers becoming distributors for them. In 1937, Jenks
Brothers Ltd. and the British Tool and Engineering Co. Ltd.,
(Britool), were taken over by John Shaw & Sons (Wolverhampton)
Ltd. Also in 1937, John Shaw & Sons took over the old Clyno
factory in Bushbury and moved its two newly acquired subsidiary
companies, Jenks Brothers and Britool, to the new premises. In 1969
Britool were taken over by James Neill, of Sheffield, making them a
member of the James Neill group of companies. In 1991 Britool was
bought by the international group Facom and, around 1980, moved from
Bushbury to Walsall Road, Cannock, where they continue to
manufacture tools.
